Record product demos in your own browser.

DemoBot Recorder is a Chrome extension that records a demo in the tab you pick: your login, your network, your tabs. Localhost, VPN-only tools and sites with bot protection become recordable, and DemoBot still adds the narration, captions, encoding and hosting afterwards.

— when you need it

For the sites the cloud can’t reach.

The web app records in a browser on DemoBot’s servers. That works for most public sites and most logins, but not for a build on localhost, an internal tool behind your VPN, or a site whose bot protection blocks automation. The extension moves the capture into your Chrome, where you are already signed in, and uploads the recording to your workspace.

— how it works

Three steps, then the usual pipeline.

The extension captures; everything after the capture happens in your DemoBot account as it would for a cloud recording.

— what else it does

Plan there, cancel freely.

Plan from the tab too

For a site the server cannot browse, the popup plans the script from your tab: the planner’s reasoning stays on the server and only the browser commands run here. Keep the tab visible; screenshots come from the active tab.

Cancel refunds

Closing the tab, detaching the debugger or pressing Cancel aborts the run and refunds it. A capture left unfinished is refunded by the server after 30 minutes.

The same output

Narration, music, subtitles, intro and outro cards and the hosted player are all added server-side. An extension recording ends up as a normal DemoBot video in your library.

— known limits

What it doesn’t do yet.

Consent banners stay

The cloud recorder sweeps cookie banners off camera; the extension does not. Dismiss them once yourself, and your browser usually remembers.

No credential typing

Steps that type a login are filtered out of extension recordings on purpose. Record inside the session you are already signed in to.

Viewport is approximate

The window is nudged toward the script’s resolution preset and the capture is scaled to its bounds, but exact pixel sizes are not guaranteed the way the server’s fixed viewport is.

Re-record from the extension

Per-step re-recording and the pre-flight check need a server-side replay, which these sites do not allow. To redo an extension capture, record it again from the popup.

— faq

What people ask before installing.

Which browsers does it support?

Google Chrome 116 or newer. The extension is built on Manifest V3 and is installed from the Chrome Web Store.

What does it capture?

A video of the one tab you selected and a timing manifest of the scripted steps it replayed. During a planning session it also relays screenshots of that tab to the planner. Nothing from other tabs, no browsing history, no cookies.

Does it see my passwords?

No. Steps that would type a credential are left out of extension recordings by design; you record inside a session where you are already signed in. The only things stored on your device are your DemoBot app origin and your API key.

Where does the recording go?

Over HTTPS to your own DemoBot workspace, authenticated with your key. The server adds narration, music and subtitles, encodes the MP4 and hosts it on Cloudflare Stream, exactly as for a cloud recording.

Your browser records. DemoBot does the rest.

Plan the script in the app, record it in the tab that only you can reach, and get back a narrated, captioned MP4.
